Chennai, Nov 12: The Centre tonight withdrew its decision to deploy CISF security at "The Hindu" office, but directed the Tamil Nadu government to scale up the security provided to the daily's Editor-in-Chief N Ram to "Y" from "X" category. State Chief Secretary, Lakshmi Pranesh, in a statement here, said the government received a letter by fax from Union Joint Secretary (Home) Harminder Singh around 8 pm informing that the ministry had decided not to deploy CISF personal to provide security to the Hindu office.
