Sarasota (Florida), Apr 06: Anastasia Myskina of Russia advanced to her second final of the year with a straight-sets victory over Nathalie Dechy of France yesterday at the 140,000 Dollar Sarasota Open claycourt event. The second-seeded Myskina rolled to a 6-2, 6-4 win for her third win in four meetings with the fifth-seeded Frenchwoman. She will play Australian qualifier Alicia Molik on Sunday.
Molik topped former French Open champion Iva Majoli 6-3, 6-4, for her second final berth of the year.
After arriving in Sarasota on a three-match losing streak, Myskina is gunning for her second title of the year after capturing the Qatar women's open hardcourt event in February.
Molik claimed her first career WTA title in January at Hobart.
Enjoying her best season to date, she teamed with men's world no. 1 Lleyton Hewitt to lead Australia to the Hopman Cup final in January.
She posted three wins over top 40 players, including then No. 8 Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia.
The 22-year-old from Adelaide also reached the fourth round at the Nasdaq-100 Open in Miami last month, upsetting three seeded players. Bureau Report
