Kolkata, May 28: Trinamool Congress Mamata Banerjee today launched a proxy offensive against her estranged party colleague Sudip Bandyopadhyya removing his close aide from the post of the president of central Kolkata district of the party's youth wing. "Ashoke Chakraborty has been relieved of the post of the president of the central Kolkata district committee in a minor reshuffle in the party's youth wing", Trinamool Yuva Congress president Sanjay Baxi, a confidante of Mamata Banerjee, told reporters.
Baxi said Chakraborty has been replaced by Swapan Sammaddar, a member of the mayor-in- council of the Kolkata Municipal corporation.
The move comes close on the heels of Mamata's unhappiness over Bandopadhyaya's meetings with BJP leadership in the run up to last week's expansion of Vajpayee ministry and opposition to his inclusion in it.
When contacted, Bandyopadhyaya termed the action as a "minor" matter to make any comment over. "I do not want to comment on such a minor matter", he told.
The removal of Bandyopadhyaya's aide from the post came amid reported moves for disciplinary action against him (Bandyopadhyaya) proposed by the party working committee for alleged anti-party activities. Bureau Report
