New Delhi, Sept 19: A Delhi Court today discharged three Ahmedabad youths arrested under Pota on suspicion of planning to assassinate Gujarat Chief Minister Narender Modi and some Sangh Parivar leaders after city police said there was not sufficient evidence to implicate them in the case. Pervez, Sayed Wasim and Abdul Latif were let-off in the case by special Judge S N Dhingra, who said the accused persons are discharged from the case as sufficient evidence has not been found against them.
The trio were arrested by the Gujarat police in Ahmedabad on August 31, as one Lashkar-e-Taiba militant Shahid Ahmed Bakshi, who was apprehended along with two of his associates Farhan Ahmed Ali and Hafiz Mohd Tahir here on August 30 by Delhi Police, had named the three as members of their outfit.
Police had said that during interrogation, the let militants arrested in Delhi had confessed about a plot to assassinate Modi, VHP General Secretary Praveen Bhai Togadia and some other leaders of Sangh Parivar and a huge quantity of explosives and arms were seized from them.
