The 4.06 lakh victory margin of Jyotiraditya Scindia in the Guna parliamentary seat, who won on a sympathy wave on Sunday, is one of the highest ever in the country's parliamentary history. Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan had got into the Guiness Book of Records for securing the highest victory margin in Lok Sabha elections when he won Hajipur (SC) seat by 4.24 lakh votes in 1977 riding on anti-emergency wave. He bettered his own record with a margin of 5.05 lakh votes in 1989. Guna was earlier held by Jyotiraditya's father Madhavrao Scindia, who was killed in a plane crash last year and earlier by his grandmother Vijayeraje Scindia, who had won on a BJP ticket. The young scion of the Scindia family almost doubled the margin of victory secured by his father in 1999 elections. Bureau Report
