Srinagar, June 04: Three militants and two securitymen were among six killed and four others injured as the ultras engaged security forces in encounters and set off two IEDs in Jammu and Kashmir, where forces smashed three hideouts since last night, a police spokesman said today. A security jawan was killed and another injured when an improvised explosive device burst at Banihal in Doda district of Jammu region today. The IED, planted between Mahu and Baghwal, was detonated when the troops were patrolling the area, the spokesman said.
In another explosion, two persons including an army jawan were injured when militants detonated an IED at Bandipor town of Baramalla district in north Kashmir today.
The injured were shifted to a hospital where their condition was stated to be stable, the spokesman said.
Two militants and a security jawan were killed in a fierce gun battle during search operations at Hari Safeda in Surankote area of Poonch district, the spokesman said adding two jawans and a woman were also injured in the encounter and were hospitalised.
Security forces killed another militant at Bagla jungle in Dharamshal area of Rajouri district last night, he said.
The spokesman said police recovered body of one Mohammad Shafi from a Nallah at Joura Baggar in Doda district.
