Ludhiana, Apr 04: With the crash of a MIG-23 in Ludhiana district today, the total number of IAF fighter aircraft which met with accidents over Punjab and Haryana in the past one year has gone up to seven. Three of these were mig-21s, two mig-23s and two jaguars. While four of these crashes took place over Haryana, three happened over Punjab.

A MIG-21 crashed in Fatehabad in Haryana on April 26 last and another over a populated area in Jalandhar within a week killing at least nine persons.

Five days after the Jalandhar crash, a jaguar met with a mishap in Ambala killing it's pilot.
A MIG-23 crashed in moga district on June 26 but its pilot bailed out safely. A MIG-21 crashed in Ambala on September 9 last year.

On November 5, a jaguar crashed over a small village close to Ambala killing at least 12 people.

Four persons of a family were killed in today's crash in a village 20 kms from here but the pilot managed to bail out safely.
