Confirmed dengue cases rise to 1,519 in Delhi
New Delhi, Oct 19: With 127 fresh dengue cases coming to light today, the total number of people infected with the disease in the Capital has reached 1,519 even as 12 deaths have been reported due to the disease.
New Delhi, Oct 19: With 127 fresh dengue cases coming to light today, the total number of people infected with the disease in the Capital has reached 1,519 even as 12 deaths have been reported due to the disease.
Out of 1,519 confirmed cases reported in the capital so far, 1197 are from Delhi while the remaining 322 cases belong to neighbouring states, an MCD release said.
Chairman of the standing committee Ram Babu Sharma today informed that the health department from October 9 to 18 checked 9,50,383 houses of which breeding of mosquitoes was found in 3,351 houses.
Legal notices were issued to 2,201 offenders and 1,386 prosecutions were launched, he said adding that 3,99,917 houses were sprayed and 2,55,724 handbills were distributed to create public awareness to initiate steps to curb breeding of mosquitoes.
Besides, on an average 11-12 fire tankers from fire department for anti-larval spray in large water bodies and drainages were being used daily since the outbreak of dengue, Sharma added.
Meanwhile, the third front organised a demonstration in the heart of the capital today and demanded President A P J Abdul Kalam to dismiss Sheila Dikshit government for their "failure in controlling the dengue epidemic".

"Delhi government has neither done any arrangement to clear the blocked water nor started any programme to eradicate mosquitoes. It is busy hiding the statistics of the dengue-affected people," third front chairman R S Bidhuri said.
