New Delhi, Oct 08: Lok Janshakti Party would put up candidates in all five states going to assembly polls, but would not have any tie-up in at least three states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. "We will go it alone in these three states and take a decision on Delhi at a meeting tomorrow," party chief Ram Vilas Paswan told reporters here.
Replying to a question why the party had decided not to tie-up with other "secular" parties in the three states, he said, "It is not as if we are contesting polls to win and rule in these states. We want to establish the party and our ideology at the grassroot level and expand our base."
He said the party would begin a 'jan chetna march' throughout Bihar from Bagha to coincide with the birth anniversary of Jaiprakash Narayan on October 11. The march would culminate with a rally at Patna on November 28, to mark the anniversary of formation of the Lok Janshakti Party. Paswan repeatedly refused comments on questions relating to the CBI raids against Mayawati, but said, "If action is taken on charges of corruption, it should not be equated with electoral politics."
Paswan said cases had also been slapped by CBI against Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on charges of "violating constitutional provisions" in the Babri Masjid case. On Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi's case, he said since Jogi had written a letter to the prime minister, the latter could have conducted a probe on the documents and just said that these were not authentic and were forged. "But here, the CBI has registered a case of forgery," he added. Bureau Report
