Ahmedabad, Nov 13: Indefinite curfew clamped in violence-affected Kalupur and Dariapur areas of the city, was totally lifted this morning as no untoward incident was reported from anywhere after the Sunday night's communal clashes.
Curfew was lifted from 5 am and normalcy is fast being
restored, official sources said.
Normal traffic plied on the roads, which were deserted on Monday and Tuesday and most of the shops were opened with people moving about freely to make purchases. Curfew was relaxed for a few hours in the morning in the last two days.
One person was charred to death and six others injured in the communal clashes in the two sensitive areas on Sunday night, prompting authorities to clamp an indefinite curfew. Meanwhile, police is tightlipped about number of arrests made in connection with the violence but said that they have detained one roadside "Chinese food joint" owner and sent tyres of his cart to forensic science laboratory to ascertain bloodstains or any other marks, which could lend "vital" clues about the charred person.
