Dhoop: Shades of brightness: The Times of India

Mumbai, Nov 08: In keeping with Bollywood's current flavour of contemporary real-life stories , Dhoop is based on the travails of the Nayyars, parents of Kargil hero Captain Anuj Nayyar.
What sets Dhoop apart is it takes up a subject, which doesn't have the mass appeal of crime, war, bomb blasts and communal riots, topics which have spawned several Bollywood features.
It tells the pathos and struggle of the Kapoors, a middle-class Delhi couple, who not only battle their young son's loss, but fight a corrupt and heartless system to get the petrol pump allotted to martyrs by the government.
The Kapoors, portrayed by a stellar Om Puri and a mediocre Revathi take you back to Mahesh Bhatt's Saaransh (Anupam Kher, Rohini Hattangadi), in which the old parents fight to get their son's ashes. The first half of Dhoop intersperses the parents' suffering with flashbacks of the happy times of the small Delhi family.
