Rs 552 crore scheme approved for promotion of Indian exports
New Delhi, Dec 02: The cabinet today approved a Rs 552 crore scheme for promotion of Indian exports with an aim to capture atleast one per cent of world trade by the end of 10th five year plan period (March 2007).

to capture atleast one per cent of world trade by the end of
10th five year plan period (March 2007).
Allocation of Rs 552 crore has been made on annual basis
under the modified market access initiative (MAI) for the 10th
five year plan period (2002-07), a government spokesperson
told a news conference after the meeting of the Union cabinet
under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Market access initiative was launched in September 2001 to give more thrust to marketing Indian products in the global markets on country-product focus approach basis with an allocation of Rs 14.50 crore.
The scheme provided for extensive market study/survey of the potential markets through leading marketing consultants, display of selected products in identified centres in focus countries, intensive and sustained publicity campaign, quality upgradation and product development and state potential survey.
