New Delhi, Nov 24: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy today charged the DMK with conducting the Tansi land scam case "very badly" resulting in the acquittal
of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
"....Although I got sanction to prosecute, Karunanidhi's government when it came to power in 1996 took away the case from me. Since then they conducted it very badly", he told soon after the Supreme Court delivered its judgement upholding the Madras High Court decision in the case.
Swamy, one of the petitioners in the case, said that the judges have stuck to the letter of the law and not to the spirit of the law. "Of course, the judges have passed strictures against her and I hope that she really learns from it," he said.
Observing that there were other cases relating to Spic disinvestment and disproportionate assets, he said "if these cases are conducted properly, especially in Spic and disproportionate assets case, then it would lead to conviction."
