Chandigarh, Sept 07: The BJP today said the nation's fight against terrorism was entering a "decisive phase", and called on all political parties to reach a "full consensus" on the issue.
"Our appeal to all political parties is that the need of the hour is to have a national consensus on this vital issue. When our security agencies are effectively dealing with the problems posed by cross-border terrorism we must show our consensus to the world on this," BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar told reporters here.
Javadekar said the ultras were feeling the heat, especially after the Parliament attack mastermind Ghazi Baba was killed in an encounter in Srinagar recently, adding, "Terrorists are desperate. They are witnessing the turn of events in the valley and people's yearning for return of peace." "The operational (security) agencies have been given a free hand, there is better and improved coordination between our security agencies and they have an upper hand, all this is frustrating the designs of militants," he said.
Questioning Pakistan's sincerity in normalising relations with India, Javadekar blamed the country for its continued support to terrorist activities. "The whole world has seen their sincerity. Fortunately for us, we have been successful in isolating Pakistan in the world arena as far as their support to terrorism is concerned," he added. Bureau Report
