New Delhi, Oct 15: Two empty chairs at the Interpol conference that began here this morning were conspicuous for national and international media.
The two chairs, where a two-member Pakistani delegation
was scheduled to sit, remained empty in the entire inaugural
proceedings during which Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani gave
a veiled advice to Pakistan to hand over the 20 wanted people
to India.
Cameras zoomed in and out numerous times and photographers focused on the two chairs, only in anticipation that they will have its occupants very soon.
However, as the conference was about to begin with the arrival of chief guest and other dignitaries, the cameramen took the shots of the empty chairs.
"Tu nahi, teri kursi hi sahi (if not you, let us (click) your seats)," quipped photographers while taking the shots.
Later, the first question put to the CBI director P C Sharma was why the two chairs were empty.
"Well, they (Pakistani delegation) have consented to come, may be they will join us later," he said. Bureau Report
