San Francisco, Sept 16: Sun Microsystems on Tuesday rolled out four new software products as well as new pricing and licensing agreements for customers, as the network computer maker seeks to boost sales and return to growth. Sun, the third-largest maker of powerful computers used largely by financial services and telecommunications companies, said the announcements are part of its efforts to reduce the cost and complexity of computing for customers.

"We're going to be radically simplifying many things, simplifying pricing and licensing, simplifying the integration and testing of all the software," said Ingrid Van Den Hoogen, director of software strategic marketing for Santa Clara, California-based Sun Microsystems.

While spending on information technology has been all but moribund the last three years, Sun has been harder hit than most of its rivals, such as International Business Machines, Hewlett-Packard and Dell.
Sun said it will now sell its computer systems around six major Java-branded software systems that integrate all the necessary applications and services on the server, desktop, software development platform, operator platform and soon, mobile devices and Java Cards. Bureau Report
