Islamabad, May 03: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's personal security has been increased following reports that some foreign terrorist outfits planned to carry out attacks against him even as Islamabad has handed over three of the six al Qaeda suspects to the US. Pakistan's interior ministry has issued fresh directives to further tighten security for Musharraf specially when his convoy moved between twin cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, local daily 'Dawn' reported today.
Law enforcement agencies have also been asked to review the security strategy being followed to protect Musharraf, who resides in Rawalpindi and travel by road to work from the presidential office in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has handed over three al Qaeda militants to US yesterday. Those handed over included Waleed Mohammad bin Attash, a Yemeni national who was wanted by American police in connection with the attack on American warship, USS Cole.
Along with him, Abu Ammar and Abdul Aziz were also handed over to the US authorities by Pakistan police yesterday, officials here said.
The three were part of the six who have been arrested on Tuesday from Karachi. Bureau Report
