New Delhi, June 22: Riding on the successful implementation of the pilots projects, telecom major Nortel Networks expects to clinch metro area network deployment deals from two telecom operators in the country soon. "We have successfully completed recently two pilots (projects) of metro area networks for two telecom companies -- one private and one government -- with the initial service likely to start in the next four months by the two operators", Ravi Chauhan, vice president, Enterprise Solutions India and Sarrc, Nortel Networks said.

He, however, declined to identify the two telecom companies.
The metro area networks offer last mile connectivity to the end users to connect to the high speed back bone existing in the country.
Along with the metro area network, the company is also eyeing major part of its Indian revenue to come from ITeS and BPO, infotech security, voice and data integration.
Targeting bigger orders from call centres where it already has up to 70 per cent penetration, Chauhan said voice based solutions would continue to drive Nortel's India revenue in a bigger way. Bureau Report
