Buenos Aires, Oct 03: Midfielder Carlos Tevez scored twice as Boca Juniors stayed four points clear at the top of the Argentine league championship by winning 4-1 away to 10-man Racing Club on Sunday (September 28).
Brazilian striker Iarley put Boca in front towards the end of the first half and Tevez weighed in with two quick goals early in the second.
Racing's Chilean international midfielder Milovan Mirosevic had a 55th-minute penalty saved by Boca goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri when the score was 2-0.
Racing then had Colombian defender Andres Orozco sent off seven minutes later for a second bookable offence following Tevez's second goal.
Matias Donnet added Boca's fourth goal nine minutes from time before Gaston Fernandez pulled one back with an injury-time penalty.
At River Plate's Monumental stadium, Quilmes clung on for a point after having Raul Saavedra, Patricio Camps and Ariel Lopez sent off with 20 minutes to go.
Saavedra was dismissed for a second bookable offence while Camps and Lopez were given red cards following fierce protests from the Quilmes players.
The visitors raced into a two-goal lead when defender Juan Herbella scored after 38 seconds and Colombian Kilian Virviescas put through into his own net in the 33rd minute.
Striker Fernando Cavenaghi pulled a goal back for River in the 68th minute before Alejandro Dominguez forced an 83rd-minute equaliser.
Boca, with a game in hand, have taken a maximum 15 points from their five matches while defending champions River Plate languish in 14th place, nine points adrift, after salvaging a 2-2 draw at home to eight-man Quilmes on Sunday.
Promoted Atletico Rafaela, 4-0 winners at home to Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata, are a surprise second on 11 points from six matches after the weekend programme in the Apertura championship, the second of two tournaments in the year.
It was the first weekend of matches this month after the World Cup qualifiers in early September followed by a suspension of the championship in the wake of crowd violence at Boca's home game with Chacarita Juniors on August 31.
