Srinagar, Mar 20: National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather on Saturday survived an assassination bid when terrorists attacked his motorcade in the state's Badgam district.
Heavily armed ultras hurled grenades and opened indiscriminate fire on the motorcade of Rather, a senior National Conference leader, at Badipora where he had gone to condole the death of an acquaintance, official sources said here.
The former Minister's security guards fired in retaliation and repulsed the attack which took place around 4.15 pm when Rather was returning to Srinagar, they said.

No one was injured in the incident, the sources said.

A hunt has been launched to nab the militants who fled the scene in the face of retaliation by the security guards, they said.
No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. Bureau Report
