Mumbai, Dec 01: Police today arrested two persons for their alleged complicity in the August 25 Zaveri Bazar bomb blast in Mumbai. Hassan Batterywala and Rizwan Ladoowala were produced before a special court which remanded them to police custody till December 08.
Batterywala and Ladoowala have earlier been remanded to police custody along with four others in a case of seizure of explosives from a bus in suburban Andheri on December 02 last year. Their custody was extended till December 06.
Four other accused held in the explosive seizure case are Sayed Mohammed Hanif, his wife Fahimida and associates Arshat Ansari and Jahid Patni. They were also remanded to judicial custody till December 15 in twin blasts at Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar on August 25 killing 53 people and injuring more than 100.
Seeking their custody, prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told designated judge A P Bhangale that RDX was recovered from Batterywala and detonators from Ladoowala. Their custody was needed to find out the source of the explosives. Bureau Report
