BJP fears Congress `malpractices` during polls; petitions EC
New Delhi, Nov 27: Apprehending `large scale malpractices` by Congress, BJP today asked the Election Commission to take all necessary precautions in the four states of Rajasthan, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to ensure free and fair polls and see that there is no `misuse` of state machinery.

A party delegation met Chief Election Commissioner J M
Lyngdoh and gave a memorandum listing complaints against the
Congress ruled governments.
"We urge the commission to provide observers with audio
visual recording equipment so that malpractices, if any, can
be suitably recorded and documented," the memorandum said.
The delegation members who included party vice president
Bal Apte, General Secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, party's chief
whip in Lok Sabha V K Malhotra and MP S S Ahluwalia said they
apprehended that Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi maybe
seeking home guards from West Bengal for election duty so that
"their services could be misused."
