Mumbai, Nov 05: Power supply to the western parts of Maharashtra, except Mumbai, and several parts of Gujarat was severely affected following a grid collapse in Maharashtra this morning.
"Following the grid collapse, power supply was disrupted at 10.30 am and we are trying to restart the generating station," Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) chairman
Ashok Basak told here.
Basak said, "We expect the supply to be restored soon. We are analysing the cause for disruption." Meanwhile, MSEB sources said low voltage followed by tripping of the Parali-Chandrapur line led to the disruption in power supply.
"The failure of power system in Maharashtra led to blackout in Gujarat which gets its share from the neighbouring state," officials of the Gujarat Electricity Board said. The restoration of supply to the affected areas will take place when power position improves, they added.
