Ahmedabad, Oct 01: Automobile giant General Motors (GM) India on Tuesday said it was working towards the launch of a multi utility vehicle (MUV) by early next year and plans to increase its investments in India to Rs 13,000 crore. "We are working towards the launch of our multi utility vehicle by early next year", GMI chief Aditya Vij said at the closing session of Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit.

Vij said the company would also increase its investment in the country to Rs 13,000 crore.
The car maker has already introduced Opel Astra, Chevrolet and some other models into the country.

The company already has a facility in Halol in Gujarat. It is also launching an automatic transmission variant of the Chevrolet Optra by early next month, sources said.
GMI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of leading US automaker General Motors Corporation, has sold 1,875 units of the car since its launch in early July. Bureau Report
