New Delhi, Aug 21: Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which is extending crucial outside support to the NDA coalition at the Centre, today opposed enactment of an anti-cow slaughter bill by the Centre in "haste". "It is not a priority item for the country. The issue is a state subject and concerning economy," Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu told reporters when asked whether his party expressed reservation over the move.
"Nobody discussed the issue with us. We want to discuss all these things before taking any decision. It is a state subject also. Different states can decide on the basis of that. Given some people are eating cow meat also. It should not be done in a haste," he said.
The TDP had requested discussion with all political parties and the government had agreed to it, Naidu said. Adding if everybody agreed, his party would have no objections.

Naidu, who met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee this morning, is understood to have raised the issue and expressed reservations.
