New Delhi, July 07: India today rubbished as "amateurish" and "puerile" a reported document of the Pentagon, the U S Defence Department, criticising its army. Asked about the report excerpts of which have been published by the a magazine, an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said the Indian Army was an outstanding and professional force with an excellent track record, proved often in circumstances more challenging than any military in the world has faced.
The report dismisses the national security advisor Brajesh Mishra as being "lax and lazy," the Director General of Military Intelligence (DGMI) as an "increasingly problematic checkpoint" and goes on to slam Indian officials as being "intellectually arrogant" and " protocol driven”.
The spokesman also termed as "misleading, selective and inaccurate" the quotes from the US report published by the magazine.
The US, he said, has high regards for the Indian Army which was evident in the nature of ongoing Indo-US military exchanges. This has also conveyed to the Indian government by the US in "political and military" dialogue, he added. Bureau Report
