New Delhi, June 27: Noted social activist Anna Hazare
today met deputy prime minister L K Advani and demanded that
Maharashtra government should enact the right to information
bill immediately so that people of the state can have access
to information.
"People have right to information, particularly about the
money lying with the government. Instead of passing the bill
in the state assembly, the state government referred it to the
centre", he told reporters after meeting Advani.
Hazare said he urged the deputy prime minister to send
the bill back to the state and direct the government to enact
the legislation immediately.
He said Advani assured him that he would look into the matter and get the bill sent back at the earliest.
Hazare also told the deputy prime minister that people should be empowered to dismiss a gram panchayat. "Advani said he would study the matter", he added.
