Lahore, Sept 14: Pakistan today appointed Moin Khan as captain to defend their Super Sixes title in Hong Kong next month. The Hong Kong sixes -- an event with six players on a team -- will be held on November 1 and 2. Pakistan will try to win their title in a row.
Moin has also captained Pakistan's senior side but has been out of favour since leading Pakistan on tour to New Zealand in 2001.
All-rounders Shahid Afridi and Azhar Mahmood -- axed after Pakistan's first round exit from the World Cup in South Africa earlier this year -- are also on the side.
Each team plays with six players, all of whom have to bowl and bat. A batsman is retired after scoring 30 runs.
This year's event marks the centenary of league cricket in Hong Kong and organisers expect teams from India, Sri Lanka, England, South Africa, West Indies and Australia to take part.
The event was first held in 1992 and Pakistan won the inaugural title with former left arm pacer Wasim Akram as captain.
England won the title in 1993 and 1994, South Africa in 1995, West Indies in 1996, Pakistan in 1997 and 2001.
Moin led Pakistan's team to a title win in the last year's Hong Kong sixes with a victory over Sri Lanka in the final.
