Justice (Rtd) Sukh Dev Singh Kang on Wednesday relinquished office as Kerala governor, a day ahead of the arrival of the governor designate Sikandar Bhakt. Kang, who served as governor for a little over five years, was given a farewell at the airport on Wednesday afternoon.
Chief Minister A K Antony, his cabinet colleagues, city mayor Prof J Chandra and senior officials were present.
Sikandar Bhakt is scheduled to be sworn in as the 18th governor of the state by Kerala High Court Chief Justice B N Srikrishna on Thursday.
