Bangalore, Oct 19: Former prime minister and Janata
Dal (Secular) President H D Deve Gowda today said he would
stage a dharna in front of Karnataka Chief Minister S M
Krishna's residence later this month to protest, what he
described as, "collapse of law and order" in his home district
of Hassan.
Demanding inquiry by a sitting High Court judge or the
CBI on alleged lawlessness and framing of "politically
motivated false cases" against rivals in the district, Gowda
told reporters here that he would stage the dharna on October 27.
Alleging that Krishna had turned a blind eye to three of his letters highlighting lawlessness and police action against political rivals, he said "the Chief Minister has not replied, though it is not binding on him to reply".
Asked why he had to resort to a dharna and instead could have talked to Krishna, Gowda said, "I have spoken to the DGP about the issue. I have written three letters without eliciting a reply. Let me see if he responds to my fourth one".
He also demanded transfer of Hassan SP Nanjundaswamy, alleging the official had committed excesses and failed to protect law and order.
