Coimbatore, Sept 13: Erode district DMK secretary N K K P Raja and three party workers were today arrested on charges of attempt to murder and inciting caste clashes at Marappanpalayam in Erode district, police said. According to police, raja, son of former DMK minister, N K Periyasami and the party workers had gone to the village in connection with a dispute of land on which an office of self help group is housed.

Based on the complaints lodged by the villagers, police registered cases under five different IPC Sections, including 147 and 148 (unlawful assembly), 307 (attempt to murder) and also for inciting caste clashes, they said.

All the four were produced before the Gobichettipalayam judicial magistrate court and were remanded to 15 days judicial custody, police said.
They were brought and lodged in the central prison here.
