Srinagar, Oct 24: Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha has urged the management of agricultural universities in the state to come up with practical agricultural policies and job oriented courses to cater to the needs of the farmers and general public. Our universities should launch practical demonstration programmes and research work in the field to popularize new schemes and projects among the farmers, Sinha who is Chancellor of the Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agriculture, Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), said addressing a meeting of the university council here yesterday. Our universities are required to provide quality education for better production and research facilities to the agriculture scientists, research scholars and students for a rapid green revolution in the state, he said.

Agriculture Minister A A Zargar said agriculture farming was the main occupation of the people of the state as majority of them depended on agriculture production.

He assured the government's full support and help to the university and management in its endeavours. Bureau Report
