No headway into drug scam in Jharkhand, new probe ordered
Ranchi, Oct 30: Jharkhand government has ordered its vigilance department to investigate a scam allegedly involving the supply of medicines to state-run hospitals by blacklisted companies on the basis of fake documents.

Following the order, the ongoing deparmental enquiry into the scam that surfaced recently has been discontinued, state health minister Dinesh Kumar Sarangi told a news agency today.
He said the departmental probe committee has sent the list of suspected civil surgeons, medical officers and store keepers to the Chief Minister.
The scam causing the state exchequer losses to the tune of crores of rupees pertains to supply of medicines on the basis of fake documents by blacklisted pharmaceutical companies to state-run hospitals and health care units in some of the districts including Hazaribagh, Chatra, Palamau and Dumka. Asked to give details about the racket, the minister said "it will not be proper to discuss the matter as it is now in the hands of vigilance department."
Caire said no raids had so far been carried out in this connection.
