Kalam disapproves naming of institutions, buildings after him
New Delhi, June 20: Asking individuals and groups to desist forthwith from naming educational institutions and institutes after him, President A P J Abdul Kalam today said that he considered such moves `highly inappropriate` and he totally disapproved of them.

that he considered such moves "highly inappropriate" and he totally disapproved of them.
"Such individuals and groups may kindly note this and desist from these moves forthwith. Instead they should engage themselves in tasks of nation building through developmental programmes specifically aimed at ameliorating the lot of the
needy and the underprivileged," the President said, expecting that "his sentiments will be honoured both in letter and spirit."
It has come to the notice of the President's secretariat
that a number of organisations from various parts of the
country have been submitting requests for naming educational
institutions, private and public buildings, major public
works, institutes, villages etc in the President's name.
Recent news reports have also spoken of the establishment of some trusts and fan clubs dedicated to the president by name, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said.
"The President considers such moves highly inappropriate and hence totally disapproves of them," he said.
