14 Tibetans taken into custody at Indo-Nepal border
Pithoragarh (Uttaranchal), Oct 09: Fourteen Tibetans, including three women and a child, were taken into custody when they were trying to illegally enter the country at Mangti near Indo-Nepal border, official sources said today.
Pithoragarh (Uttaranchal), Oct 09: Fourteen Tibetans, including three women and a child, were taken into custody when they were trying to illegally enter the country at Mangti near Indo-Nepal border, official sources said today.
The Tibetans were first sighted by Army patrol at Mangti, 140 km from here, in Dharchoola subdivision of Pithoragarh district, last night, police said.
The Army informed the police who then took the aliens, hailing from western Tibet, into custody. The Tibetans have expressed the desire to meet Buddhist spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, who is living in exile in India. Police, IB and other security and intelligence agencies were investing the matter, police said. Bureau Report
