Islamabad, July 24: Pakistan federal minister for railways Ghaus Bukhsh Khan Maher has said that Pakistan railways was prepared for the restoration of rail link with India and only awaited government's approval in this regard.
''We are ready for the restoration of the rail links and we will do so as and when the foreign office asks us, Maher said yesterday.
He said that the only impediment to the restoration of rail link between the two countries was that India wanted the process to start with the transportation of goods, while Pakistan was in favour of exchanging passenger trains first, the news said.
He was speaking to reporters after a ceremony organised to welcome the first consignment of eight of the 69 Chinese locomotives in Karachi.
