Kampala, Uganda, July 19: More than 60 people - including 10 foreign tourists - were killed in western Uganda on Thursday when a fuel truck collided with a passenger bus and burst into flames, police said.
All the passengers on the bus were killed in the accident, which occurred about 290 km west of Kampala, said Asuman Mugenyi, a police spokesman.
He could not say exactly how many people were on the bus nor what country the tourists were from.
Mugenyi said the fuel tanker's brakes failed as it was coming down a hill. The truck rolled for at least a kilometer (mile), gaining speed until the driver lost control around a sharp turn and collided with the bus, which was coming up the hill, he said.
The 10 foreign tourists were traveling to Kampala from Queen Elizabeth national park, about 360 kilometers west of the capital, Mugenyi said
Police are investigating the accident.
