The call has been given by the Mizo Students` Union (MSU) to protest `withholding` of Rs 20 crore meant for upgradation of school education by the state government due to financial constraints.
Opposition Zoram National Front and National Students` Union, however, supported the bandh.
Aizawl district superintendent of police, l T Hrangchal said that no untoward incident had been reported from anywhere in the state.
Meanwhile, state`s PWD minister R Tlanghmingthanga described the bandh as `unfortunate` as the state government had already released rupees five crore for upgradation of school education as demanded by the MSU.
