Building promoter gives evidence in American Centre attack case
Kolkata, June 10: A building promoter today while giving evidence in the American Centre terrorist attack case said that one of the accused, Jamaluddin Nasser, had rented the ground floor of his premises in April/May 2001.
Kolkata, June 10: A building promoter today while giving evidence in the American Centre terrorist attack case said that one of the accused, Jamaluddin Nasser, had rented the ground floor of his premises in April/May 2001.
Nasser began living as a tenant at 1, Tiljela Lane, the premises rented out by the promoter Dilip Singh, since mid-july, 2001.
The witness told the special court of P L Dutta that Nasser began keeping a Maruti car and a motorcycle after about three months in his rented premises.
During mid-January 2002, two other persons, including Zahid killed in a police encounter at Hazaribagh on Janaury 28, 2002, came and began living with Nasser. The witness identified the photograph of Zahid in court. He did not know the identity of the other person.
He also identified the photograph of Asif Reza Khan who was killed in a police encounter at Rajkot. Khan also used to visit Nasser.
Following the attack on the American Centre on January 22, 2002 the two persons staying with Nasser left the premises.
The police, the witness said, on January 30 midnight took him to 1, Tiljela Road, and seized the car and the motorcycle, both of which were used in the terrorist operation.
