Coimbatore, Aug 04: Nearly 450 CPI (M) activists today observed one-day fast, demanding provision of basic amenities at unapproved residential settlements in Singanallur in the city. The workers, including 175 women, led by CPI(M) MLA K C Karunanakaran, representing Singanallur constituency, were demanding among other things roads, drainage and street lights in these areas, party sources said.
Saying that there were nearly 50 unapproved layouts in the area, the sources said that despite various representations to the city development officer and also to the chief minister no developmental works had been carried out so far. Bureau Report
