Kathmandu, May 11: Nepal's Maoists today said the peace process in the country would not be successful without the participation of political parties. Talking to reporters after the inauguration of a 'contact office' of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) here, chief Maoist negotiator Baburam Bhattarai said his party would try to involve the political parties during the round table conference.
Political parties in Nepal are staying away from the ongoing talks saying the Lokendra Prasad Chand government, which was appointed by King Gyanendra, had no locus standi to talk to the Maoists as it was not democratically elected. Bhattarai said the Maoists have put forward a three-point political agenda, which includes a round table conference, formation of interim government and holding of constituent assembly elections.
The office inaugurated today near Singhdurbar Secretariat is the first opened by the party in the capital since they went underground seven years ago. Bureau Report
