New Delhi, May 24: Delhi Cabinet today recommended regularisation of unauthorised colonies on the basis of the old Regularisation Policy of 1976-77, according to which only development charges would be recovered from the beneficiaries and no land cost would be charged. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who headed the cabinet meeting which made the recommendation, instructed chief secretary Shailaja Chandra to write a letter to this effect to the Union urban development ministry.
Diskhit said regularisation would be carried out in line with the declared policies of Delhi government and expressed the hope that this would end the "confusion" created by the "ambiguous decisions" of the NDA government.
She said she would meet the new urban development minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in this regard and instructed officials to issue a public notice inviting lay out/site plans from RWAs of all unauthorised colonies which have been enlisted till March 31, 2002.
The meeting, attended by Chandra, principal secretary O P Kelkar, MCD commissioner Rakesh Mehta, DDA vice-chairman Madhukar Gupta and other senior officials, was informed that the urban development department of Delhi government had a list of 2000 unauthorised colonies.
