Shimla, July 14: Intermittent heavy rains in most parts of Himachal Pradesh since yesterday triggered landslides and disrupted rail and road traffic. Shimla-Kalka narrow gauge railway line was blocked due to a massive landslide near Kaithalighat last evening, 18 km from here. The railway track was cleared late last night and the stranded Shivalik Deluxe and 252 dn train left for Kalka four hours behind the schedule.
A spokesman of the railways said that buses were arranged to transport the passengers but the traffic was resumed by the time buses reached the spot. He said normal train services on this section had been resumed. A report from Nahan said that Nahan-Kaulawala road was blocked due to a massive landslide and the area had been cut off from the district headquarter.
Meanwhile heavy rains lashed Dharamshala last night, flooding the low-lying areas. The water started receding as the rains stopped. The region remained engulfed in fog and sky remained heavily overcast with weatherman predicting more rains. Bureau Report
