Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa, whose appointment as chief minister was quashed by the Supreme Court on Friday said that a new AIADMK legislature party leader will be elected on Friday night, Jayalalithaa told reporters after submitting her resignation to governor Dr C Rangarajan. Later she told reporters that she will prove her innocence in the courts, contest the elections and take over as chief minister again after winning the polls`. In a statement, issued shortly after the Supreme Court declared her appointment as chief minister illegal, she said `I will face cases, win them, contest a bye-election and take over as the chief minister once again`. She asked her party cadre to be patient and not to be a party to any violence. `The BJP government at the Centre, of which DMK is a partner, might use the law and order problem as a reason for dismissing the AIADMK government. DMK president M Karunandihi is waiting like an eagle to use any opportunity to seek the dismissal of the AIADMK government. Do not give any room for this`, she said appealing to her partymen to maintain calm. Bureau Report
