Madrid, Oct 25: Ireland's Padraig Harrington took a one-shot lead over compatriot Des Smyth at the halfway stage of the Madrid Open on Friday. Fog delayed the start of the second round by 90 minutes, but the wait did not appear to affect Irish pair's concentration.

Harrington carded seven birdies but bogeyed the fifth and ninth to end his round on 11 under.
Smyth produced an astonishing finish, with birdies at seven of the final nine holes for a round of 63, to put him on 10 under.
His round was matched by England's Miles Tunnicliff, who made eight birdies for his 63, to lie at nine under with Sam Torrance.
Europe's victorious Ryder Cup captain birdied the final three holes, and would have been challenging Harrington were it not for bogeys at the first and third.
