Chennai, Mar 05: Accusing the DMK of collecting 'huge' sums from those who wanted the party ticket to contest the Lok Sabha polls, the Tamil Nadu unit of BJP on Friday said it may lodge a complaint with the Election Commission against the party on the issue.
BJP spokesman Dr HV Hande told reporters that this was "gross" violation of electoral laws and norms set by the commission.
He alleged the DMK had asked the aspiring candidates to deposit Rs 60 lakh for election expenditure with the party headquarters, which was a gross violation of the Representation of People's Act (RPA), because the commission had fixed a ceiling of Rs 25 lakh on poll expenses by a candidate contesting the Lok Sabha polls.
