Karachi, Aug 10: Five men, all brothers from a religious family, were killed in an armed attack in the southern port city of Karachi overnight, police said today. "Five men have been killed when they were passing through the southern part of the city late last night. All of them were siblings," provincial police chief, Syed Kamal Shah told newspersons.

He said that the victims were returning home after closing their medical store when their van was intercepted by three men riding on a motorcycle who then opened fire.

Four of them died on the spot while the fifth died at the city's civil hospital.
The dead belonged to a religious family.

Shah said that the motive behind the murders was not known yet.

"One of the aspects we are looking at is that the terrorists might have killed them by misjudging them as activists of some religious party or group due to their appearance," senior investigator Manzoor Mughal said.
The incident took place about 500 metres from the Binori mosque that runs 19 Islamic seminaries across the country.
