Long Pond, June 09: Jerry Nadeau took a big step Friday in his recovery from a serious head injury when he was released from a rehabilitation center in Charlotte, N.C.
Nadeau was injured in a crash May 2 while practicing for a Winston Cup event at Richmond International Raceway.
"This is another hurdle in the remarkable progress Jerry has made since his accident," said Jay Frye, general manager of MB2 Motorsports. "In my visits with Jerry it is very evident that he is determined to make a full recovery."
Nadeau will continue his recovery as an outpatient at the Charlotte Institute of Rehabilitation.
"Jerry will continue with a similar course of treatment, including physical, occupational and speech therapy," said Dr. David Wiercisiewski, a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation at CIR. "He has worked very hard since he arrived here, and his progress has been significant. Jerry, his family, and I are all very encouraged by what he has accomplished."
Mike Wallace again will drive Nadeau's U.S. Army Pontiac this weekend at Pocono.
