Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), Oct 02: The Centre today accused Congress government in Chhattisgarh of having failed to provide it details about the huge stock of foodgrains provided to the state to combat drought.
As many as 4.72 lakh tonnes of foodgrains had been provided to the state by the Centre to combat drought but the state government failed to provide the details about its utilisation, Union Agriculture Minister Rajnath Singh told reporters here.
Besides that on other projects also the Centre had provided assistance to the state liberally but it had failed to spent the money because of which a large amount has been lapsed, Singh said.
The Union Minister said that the Centre has not yet received the report of the state government on the flood, which claimed several lives.
Union Urban Development Minister Bandaru Dattatreya had yesterday said that the state failed to implement projects for slums and drinking water in urban areas and on certain projects a single pie has not been spent by the state government despite huge sanction by the Centre.
Later, addressing BJP workers, Rajnath Singh alleged that the state government was registering false cases against the BJP workers ahead of state assembly elections.
Claiming that the false caste certificate of Jogi has brought disrespect to the state and the post of chief minister, Singh appealed to the people of the native district of Jogi to vote for BJP in the polls.
