Ranchi, June 22: The Jharkhand vigilance department today filed FIR in three cases in a medical scam involving some health officials, including civil surgeons. The department sources said the FIRs were lodged yesterday and 35 officials, including a chief medical officer (CMO) and four additional CMOs, were among the accused in the scam that came to light last year. The FIRs were booked under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC including Sections 409 and 420. An FIR would also be lodged against half a dozen pharmaceutical companies for their involvement in the alleged misappropriation of crores of rupees provided by the state government for medical equipment and providing free medicines to the poor.
